ROSSFORD – A new foundation has been formed to financially benefit students attending Rossford Exempted Village School District. “We are extremely excited to announce formation of a new entity which will provide a source of funding for initiatives which may or may not fit within the realm of the existing funding structure for the schools” said Doug Miller, president of the board of directors for The Bulldog Foundation, Inc.Set up as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization under the Internal Revenue Service Code, the Bulldog Foundation will receive tax-free donations from donors. Funds raised by the Bulldog Foundation can then be used for projects which would not typically be able to be funded by the school, for example, artificial turf for the football field, iPads for incoming freshman students, or scholarships for graduating students.
“School foundations are becoming more and more popular as an alternative funding source for schools operating under tighter and tighter budgets” said Rossford Superintendent Dan Creps.
Current board members, in addition to Miller include vice president Kent Murphree; treasurer Tim Myers; Amy Austin, Joe Schaller, Tim Yenrick, Moe Minarcin, Neil MacKinnon and Rex Huffman. Ed Reiter has agreed to act as an advisor to the Bulldog Foundation, having previously helped to form foundations for Lourdes University and Owens Community College. Ann Miller is a Bulldog Foundation volunteer helping with day-to-day operations.
